The Institute of Chemistry is the professional body representing chemists in Ireland. The Mission of the Institute of Chemistry of Ireland is to promote Chemistry and to represent the profession of Chemistry in Ireland. Its members are chemists who satisfy the requirements of the Institute with regard to qualifications and experience. The Institute promotes the study of chemistry, sets professional standards and organises lectures, meetings and social events for its members. It offers advice and comment to Government in areas relevant to the profession. Irish Chemical News, the official journal of the Institute is published twice yearly.
IRsweep’s vision is to revolutionize optical sensing with its high-speed mid-infrared laser spectrometer. It is based on quantum cascade laser frequency combs invented by IRsweep co-founders in 2012 at ETH Zurich. The novel acquisition technique makes observation of chemical reactions happening on microsecond to second time scales possible. The high-brightness source further enables measurements in strongly absorbing environment, e.g. aqueous solution. With this, we open a plethora of new possibilities in industrial and academic (bio)chemical research.
